Madelyn is President and a shareholder in the law firm of Essig, Valeriano and Fudeman, P.C. She is a former prosecutor who now practices primarily in civil litigation, real estate, zoning and land use, and commercial transactions.
Her expertise extends well beyond the practice of law both in the creation of and support of programs aimed at encouraging alternatives to costly litigation.
Instrumental in creating the Family Mediation Program, which was implemented in January 2005 by the Berks County Court of Common Pleas.
A Director of the Berks County Bar Association, she has chaired the association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee for several years.
This combination of legal expertise and advocacy for mediation and alternative conflict resolution forms the keystone for Attorney Fudeman’s judicial candidacy.
She also was selected by Berks County judges to serve as both a court-appointed receiver and conservator.

Madelyn has been recognized by the Members of the Berks County Bar with several prestigious positions:
President of the Endlich Law Club - Berks County’s oldest and most esteemed law fraternity Madelyn served as the first woman President.
Madelyn is a Co-Founder and Former President of the Justice William Strong American Inns of Court - a law fraternity dedicated to promoting civility and professionalism within the law profession.
Attorney Fudeman served for twelve years on the Board of Directors of Mary’s Shelter. She also was a selection committee member for the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Awards, and is a founding member of the Berks Equine Council.
Attorney Fudeman’s strong, proven record in law, while grounded in Berks, extends well beyond her experience with the Berks County court system. Before entering practice with DeSantis, DeSantis & Essig in 1993, Attorney Fudeman was a legal producer and reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida, where she covered high-profile trials - including the United States v. Manuel Noriega. Attorney Fudeman also served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Attorney Fudeman graduated from the University of Miami School of Law, Coral Gables, Florida. She also attended Finch College in New York City, and the University of Miami, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and Communications. Before graduation from the University of Miami, she attended the Université Aix-Marseilles, Aix-En-Provence, France.
Attorney Fudeman is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, the Florida Bar, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
